Getting a baby on a cup

How old should a baby be before you put them on a cup. My daughter was sick and wouldn't take the formula in a bottle, tired it in the cup and didn't want it. I put juice in the cup and she drank alot. She is 5 months old. She wont drink formula that much anymore. What should i do?

  • maybe its because she is sick? hmm you should definitly keep trying. or maybe talk to your dr about other options like goats milk. i would keep tryin with the formula tho babies REALLY need it till they are 10 to 12 months. be easy on the juice tho bc since it is sweet she may only drink that..then youll have a bigger problem haha. good luck hun!

  • Cut back on the juice so much. Sugar is icky on the digestive system, especially so young. She prolly just drank it because its sweet. If you give her anything, i'd give her water to make sure she stays hydrated. Push formula. It's her main source of everythings he needs. She needs it untill she is 1 yo. If she is over the sickness but still fussy, I'd take her to the doc. A baby might not drink from a bottle because they develop an ear infection after being sick. It makes it hurt to suck. Maybe you coudl even get some suggestions on what to do from them

  • She has to have the formula...Nubby makes a vacuum sealed cup that has 2 handles and a nipple top. When they suck on it the bottom rises and keeps it air tight. it's a great training cup and makes it fun for them. I got mine at walmart. She needs to have the formula, though...she's too young for milk (causes stomach bleeding and early allergies and can also cause them to become lactose intolerant) and juice is ok in very small amounts but is in no way appropriate for a replacement to formula. Try different kinds of formula and ask your pediatrician what to do but don't discontinue formula on your own!!

  • its good that shes drinking juice out of a cup now, just giver her a little bit longer to switch to a cup for everything, austin was taking a cup for juice at 5 months and he was so easy to drop the bottle we did it cold turkey.

  • If she will drink out of cup then keep using it, the more she does it the easier it will be to get her off the bottle.
