Creative cooking

I need suggestions on how to cook with a microwave and an electric skillet. My lights have been disconnected but the only thing affected is my stove/oven and my heat pump. Unless something changes this will be for about a month or so

  • Umm if they turned off your electric then nothing powered by electricity should work. Your hooked into someone else's power.

  • I am confused. Are just your lights shut off? There are a ton of recipes on line for skillets. Good luck to you though.

  • You can cook soooo many things in the skillet and microwave, just google recipes and get creative. You can do chicken, beef, fish, etc, you can steam rice and veggies in teh microwave, pasta, etc.

  • I have had to live for a month with just an electric skillet
hamburger helpers and tuna helpers work great!
but here is a recipe that works good as well
fry up a pound of burger with a little onion
add one cup water and one cup elbow pasta
1 can tomatoes and one can tomato sauce
    1/4 cup A1 steak sauce
a few dashes of garlic, pepper to taste and allow to simmer 20 minutes
you can also do sloppy joes
scrambled eggs and throw in some ham or sausage with cheese and any veggies you desire
you can do stir fry, fry up chicken breast and add stir fry veggies, one cup water and 1 cup rice and simmer til rice is tender
anything you cook in a skillet you can cook in an electric skillet

  • I live in a house turned into 4 units. I don't know where the rest of my electric is wired but the stove/oven and heat pump is the only thing controlled by my electricity.

    Thanks for the suggestions
