Is it too early to set tomato plants?

I saw some for sale already, but I was raised do not plant before mothers day....ever. We are in the 40s-50s here but possible snow. I was actually surprised they were for sale now......

  • It depends on where you live.  http://www.tomatogardeningguru.com/planting.html

  • It depends on your area. Usually once the stores have them out it is safe. If a frost is possible cover them with newspapers for that night. Ask at the store where you saw them what they suggest.

  • I started my seeds about 3 weeks ago and put the seedlings into larger pots. I think mine will be ready to put in the wooden boxes in about 3 weeks.
