Foodstamps questions

We just barley received our food stamps today, the full amount. According to the paper the food stamps starts over on the 15th of ever month. Does that mean it starts over the 15th of this month or do you think it will just start over 15th of next month since its just a few days away?

Also we might be moving in a few months, we will be living into a family members basement but we have to pay rent. When we update this do they have to include the paychecks of the person we are living with? The person we are living with will not be providing for us. We will have to share a kitchen though. We pay rent, part of utilities and buy our own food.

We have never had food stamps before but we hit hard times and have no choice but to go on them. Hence why we have to live with someone if neither of us find a job.

  • We ask the clients if they will purchase and prepare meals separately from the people living in their household who are not related to them? if they agree to this, than we do not look at the other people's income.
When you applied for FS last month did your worker say you will only get a certain amount, than get the full amount on the 15th?

  • It is considered a separate house. You and your DH are one household and the other family is another. They will take all things in consideration.

  • since SOME things will naturally be shared (milk, mustard, bread, a stick of butter) it's going to largely depend on how much of a stickler your case worker is or is not

aLOT of case workers go by utilities.... if you're under the same roof using the same gas/heat/water/trash service you're 1 house hold

  • I am not on it and hasn't ever been on it, but my sister is on it. She works part time since she works in a fast food place and she takes care of her 2.5 year old son so she needed it. She was living at home and they asked for paystubs of anyone in the household making income. Now she lives with her boyfriend and his parents and they ask for the same thing. I think she got half the amount until (hers is the 7th) and then they gave her the full amount on the 7th.
