  • Under 40k would be low income
Under 70k would be middle income
Under 150k would be upper middle income
Over 150k would be well off
Over 700 would be super rich

I live in Cali you can't make it on 40 and live anywhere safe.

  • Probably less then $1500 a month after taxes I would consider poor. Although, I'm oblivious to how much people make other than my hubby.

  • I live in the north coast of california, in wine country and it's expensive
for me to have one more child, which would make us a fam of 4 I would consider
2500 or below POOR In debt, not making it etc
Around 3500-4k Doing Okay but not great, renting, living month to month, paychec to paycheck
And anything above 5k, Good Enough to not be broke, not able to buy a house but good enough to rent a good place
But to be doing terrific here you should bring in, as a couple, or alone, at least $7500 a month to be able to own a house, car, have some luxury, etc

  • If you live paycheck to paycheck no matter how much you make, your POOR. If loosing one paycheck would get you evicted, the lights turned off and no food shopping, your poor. Even if you only gross 25K a year if you can save money after paying the bills each month without starving your middle class. If you set up all your bills for auto pay and never bother to balance your check book or look at the balance, your rich.

  • We are a family of six, and DH's income is $33,000. We make due. Don't have a ton of extra spending money or anything, but we have what we need.

  • WOW... Didn't realize we were "poor" til I read these answers! lol

Last year we made just over $11K for a family of 5. THAT was poor!!! This year we will make about $30K if all goes as planned... I don't think that's poor at all. Right now our bills are about $1400 a month and out income is about $1300... It's rough! But I guess I consider those with bills of $1400 and an income of $800 poor! That's how we lived last year!

So I would have to say anything under $20K a year could be poor... Anything above that you CAN live just fine IF you are willing to make the changes it takes to do so. - which most of us aren't.

  • I know at the WIC office they consider anything under 26k to be low income.

  • Do you mean income? If so I would think for a family of 4, 50,000/yr would be good, 75,000 would be better, and 100,000 would be great. IMO poor would be anything under 30,000/yr. It will really depend on your situation though. My view is going to be a lot different because we're self employed...
