Going on a 7 hr road trip. Can I take frozen bluberries in my ice chest and then refreeze them?

Or- is that unsafe? Should I begin to eat them right away after they've defrosted? I'm really into food safety and this has me stumped. Thanks!

  • They should be just fine. Its not chicken or egg salad with may.

  • I would imagine so, but each time you freeze them the more and more mushy they'll become....

  • Are they for snacking, or for using in something else at your destination? If they're for snacking, just keep them on ice in a cooler. If they're for something at your destination, get some dry ice in a seperate cooler.

  • They will be fine. You can eat them frozen or wait until they unthaw if you want.
