The boy has issues, he had a weapon and threatened teachers and police. I am behind the police 100%. Especially since this wasn't the first outburst out of this boy.

  • they said they used pepper spray because if they had tried to take him down physically he could have been injured much worse than anything the pepper spray could have done. which makes so much sense to me.
plus he even admited he was mad and was going to hurt anyone that came near him.
it is sad they did it but i believe they did what they had to do, and it doesn't seem like they didn't think it all through.
it wasn't like they showed up and dosed him down with the stuff just to hurt him.

  • The police were in a lose/lose situation. Whatever they did in this case they were gonna get bashed by society. If it was an adult who knows how worse the outcome would have been. The fact that he is just 8 years old doesn't mean that he didn't know what he was doing. He suffered the consequences of his actions. Both the kid and his mom need help.

  • The cop did what was safest for all. The kid was armed with a stick and threatening violence. Yes he probably could have tackled the kid but you don't know if the kid would have hurt the officer or himself in the doing. Pepper spray was the safest way to subdue the child. The kid obviously needs psychological help. And the mom just needs a reality bitch slap!

  • Yes, the wood shed. Too many of today's children are far too coddled when what they need is firm discipline & punishment from a loving parent.

If the mom had been doing her job as a mom, this would never have progressed to this point. Did the child have psych issues in the begininning? Idk. Could this incident have been prevented if his behaviors had been nipped in the bud? Yes. Maybe the child has had a psych issue all along and the mom ignored it rather than treated it. That means she wasn't doing her job. So, to protect others, the policeman had to make a losing choice. And now, maybe that boy can finally get the help he needs.

    Way to go, Mom. Not.

  • I think he hasn't been taken out behind the wood shed enough. The cop did what he had to do.

  • He was an out of control child. Third time police have been called to school for this behavior (if I read the story correctly). Mom must be aware of his temper. Officer did the right thing. I completely agree with Gomezmami-either way the police are going to get blamed. If they hadn't subdued this kid and he hurt someone the public would be outraged that the police officers hadn't done their job. This kid knew he was wrong, he knew what he was doing was wrong. He's just an over indulged spoiled child with no consequences for his bad behavior. Now maybe he has learned his lesson. Unfortunately however when the lawsuit is settled out of court and he sees all the money his bad behavior got him any lesson he might have learned will be only a fleeting memory.
