How do you truly clean your computer from a virus?

  • AVG and MalawareBytes don't catch everything!!!! The virus I had was detected by an online Microsoft, and neither AVG or Malawarebytes caught it!!!

  • wipe it all out and reset it up again - save your files and music and photos to cd's first though!

  • Load anything you do not want to lose on a USB.
    * You did not mention the type of virus protection you have

    I run AVG with Malwarebytes.

    I scan AVG, then Malwarebytes. In safe mode always.
    If it finds anything I clean/quarantine/delete, whatever it says.
    Reboot my laptop into safe mode and then run them both again to be sure.

    I also check the processes my laptop is running against microsofts website to be sure it is a legit process. If not I take action to delete it.

  • Use a good antivirus along with a second scanner. Don't run them together, but use the scanner like once a week or whatever with your antivirus turned off.
