Can you explain ERF to a new mom?

  • The laws state that a child must stay RF until they are 12 mos and 20 lbs. ERF is keeping them RF past that minimum legal limit. The current recommendations are 2 yrs or 30 lbs, or as long as your child fits in a RF seat (good to know that both infant and convertible seats rear face, infant seats do NOT forward face though, convertible seats can be used RF or FF.)

  • Extended Rear facing. You keep them rear facing in a car seat past a year.

  • Extended rear facing... rear facing a child past the pathetic minimum the government has in place... so keeping your child as safe as possible for as long as they fit in their convertible seat... usually to the ages of 2-3 years (and some longer) and to about 35-45 lbs...
