Is there an abbreviation for those of us who are domestic partners?

I was wondering how one would go about incorperating abbreviations for some of us who are lesbian moms? I've thought of DP (Domestic Partner). Significant Other doesn't sound "married" to me. Neither does domestic partner, but that's another topic : P

  • I would just go with DW...Dear Wife. Are you or do you consider yourself married to her? If so that is what I would use.

  • I agree with SuperChicken. If it were me, I would probably just say 'wife'. Only two extra letters. It does sort of suck that there's not a good term for that though. : /

  • I, personally, don't see anything wrong with SO. But, it sounds so "unmarried" then why don't you use DW for Dear Wife? Heterosexuals use DH for Dear Husband. I guess DW would stand to reason in your case.
