What do you put in your compost pile?

I know egg shells are great, coffee grains, and I once heard newspaper was good too.

  • All vegatables peels, skins and leftovers. My sister swears her composts improves if she throws a lunchbox size box of raisins in once every 2 weeks.

  • Just about all kitchen scraps except meats.
    And yes, newspaper - shredded - is good.

  • I was told not to put colored newspaper in but scredded paper is really good.

  • all non-meat food scraps, tea bags (no strings), grass clippings. im not sure why by DH says no egg shells...something about it messing up the nitrogen-oxygen balance b/c of all the grass he puts in it. i dunno its his baby haha.
