Can i jog and lift weights at the same time?

i just wanted to do something with my 5 pounders since i ditched them and went up one. Do i pump them with my arms or do i jog while i just let them hang there?

  • People job with weights all the time. You can do either, depend what you want to accomplish. I've seen people job while "punching" with weights.

  • If you're jogging, I'd recommend NOT carrying 5lbs weights. running already puts a lot of stress on your body, adding weights to it is asking for injury. Increase your running time or intensity or if you have to carry weights, walk instead.

  • I would say pump them with your arms while you jog.

  • I have heard many personal trainers say not to jog with free weights. They even have signs at my gym that say it's prohibited. Sometimes you can get 1-2lb weights that strap on to your ankles for walking....
