When you moved out of your parents house...

Did you know how to...

Cook a simple meal?
Do your own laundry?
Drive a car?
Iron your clothes?
Balance your checkbook?

What are some things you WISH you had known moving out that you didn't?

  • Cook a simple meal? Yes! I am the cook in the family so I knew how to cook almost anything :)

Do your own laundry? Yes Drive a car? Yes, but I don't have a license and don't really need it yet

Iron your clothes? Yes, but I almost never have anything I need ironed

Balance your checkbook? Of course. I learned that at an early age

There's really nothing didn't know how to do before moving out on my own.

  • didnt know about credit and check keeping.
the rest i did know some of and had to kinda learn as you go.

I wish i would have been taught how to properly provide for myself, and that i DIDNT need to get married so fast or have someone take care of me.

  • I could do all that and more.

What I wish I would have known......wish I would have known that I'd always kind of wish that I lived on my own for a while. I moved straight from my parents' house to my husband's (then boyfriend) condo.

  • I knew how to do most of those things when I was in middle school. The driving and checkbook balancing was still before I moved out.

  • I was very well prepared, just needed practice, and since I got married when I left the house, our chores were split 50/50 since day one.

  • I knew how to do all those things when I moved out. I was cleaning and cooking dinner in middle school, was my job to start dinner and have the house straightened before my parents came fact, I remember sitting at the dinning room table with me mom and her telling me she just couldn't wait till I was out of school for the summer so I could keep her house cleaner.

  • I personally didn't know how to cook, do my own laundry and had no idea what a checkbook was!

  • I could do all of that. My mother made sure her girls knew how to take care of themselves.
