Spaghetti- what to add?

Typically I either make some meat sauce with either ground beef or ground turkey. Or I made it with meatballs.

Does anyone do anything different? We love spaghetti, but would like to try something different while making it. Different flavors, etc...

  • Mild Italian sausage will really help. You can take the casing off and brown it just like ground beef, but it gives a whole new taste.

  • I use different noodls, add extra tomatoes, mushrooms, with ground beef, and parmesean

  • Cut up a couple chicken breasts into cube sized chunks.Toss about a tablespoon of olive oil in a pan, heat up, throw in some finely chopped garlic and about 1/2 cup of Italian dressing. Throw in the chicken and cook through.
    While boiling spaghetti noodles, throw in some brocoli (fresh or frozen) until cooked.
    Drain chicken.
    Drain spaghetti.
    Toss all together with your favorite saice..top with Parm...
    DELICIOUS! and a little different too...

  • what about making a white sauce this time? Add chicken, parm, mushrooms, onion, broc,, and anything else you want to throw in there,, being married to an Italian,, red sauce we eat if pretty traditional,, so chang it up momma,, and don't forget the garlic!

  • I experimented with mixing regular basil spaghetti sauce with alfredo sauce, adding ground turkey or chicken. We loved it! It made the sauce richer tasting than just using a tomato base, but not as rich as adding alfredo sauce alone. I always cook spaghetti in one pound increments and add at least that amount in meat, if not more. We also enjoy heating canned blue lake green beans until there is practically no water, as the accompaniment. If there are leftovers from these two dishes, I simply add both together in a glass or plastic bowl for reheating in the microwave.

  • It's really not different, but I mix in an egg or 2 to the spaghetti & meat, pour half of it in a greased baking dish, sprinkle over a big handful of cheese, then add the rest of the spaghetti and more cheese. Or I'll mix the noodles with a couple of eggs & some parm, pour in a baking dish, top with cooked meat, then sauce, and some cheese on top. Either way, bake it til it's hot through. Kind of a faux lasagna either way. I use different noodles too when it's all mixed up.

  • Oh, and sometimes I use pepperoni instead of or along with hamburger, or use no meat at all.
