What salary do you consider middle class?

I know its going to depend on where you live but what range of salary do you consider middle class?

This is kind of a spin off of my other question when mentioning EIC middle class was brought up.

This is the EIC Income limits. AGI

  • $43,352 ($48,362 married filing jointly) with three or more qualifying children
  • $40,363 ($45,373 married filing jointly) with two qualifying children
  • $35,535 ($40,545 married filing jointly) with one qualifying child
  • $13,460 ($18,470 married filing jointly) with no qualifying children

  • I don't think there is a solid number. I'd say between $50,000 - $125,000. THough I think $50,000 with a family of 4 is solidly working class

  • Well my salary is 43,000 a year, and I still struggle at times. Middle class has to be maybe around 70-100,000 a year.

  • I wouldn't call that middle class. Everyone likes to define themselves as such, but I think middle class is more like 100g with 2 kids and 2 parents. That would get you 2 cars, a nice house, health care and vacation. People making less than that are usually missing at least one of those things.

  • stacymom I have a nice home, new car, great healthcare and vacation. Plus if you have excellent credit like me(not bragging either) you can basically live really nice. You don't have to be rich to live nice, just take care of your credit, and you'll go a long way in this world. I'm not the Kardashians, but we live great, and we have very nice things. Just be responsible, pay your bills on time, and the world is yours.

I think it really depends on where you live. Solidly middle-middle class would be around where you are putting your number, but I think lower-middle class . I know that if we lived in some places in this country, we'd be considered upper middle class and we are no where near that where we are now.
