Is amniocentesis the best way to determine a paternal test before birth?

  • It is the only way before the baby is born, but it also carries with it some serious risks including miscarriage so I would think VERY hard about it before doing it. Unless there is a VERY real need to know before the baby is born then I would forego it.

  • It is the only way but, it also causes miscarriages. I wouldn't do it, just wait until the child is born.

  • Most docs will not do it just to determine paternity because there is a risk involved and figuring out who the daddy is CAN wait until the baby is born. It's not a medical emergency that needs to be delt with immediately.

  • Yes, but way too risky just for that. Wait until birth and do the swab test. Less stress on baby.
