  • Every woman goes through the change at different ages. Ill be 45 this year and still have no signs of the change. While my older sister started to go through the change when she was 43. She whines endlessly about the hot flashes. Sure hope I dont get them like her.

  • I was about 44 -45, periods had been perfectly regular my whole life without too much PMS stuff.....then WOW I had irregular flows, major cramps, my moods went ballistic!! I'm 48 now and hot flashes are constant and haven't had a period in almost a year, they say when I hit a year....I will be officially menopausal!! This is good???????

  • I'm in my late fifties and just now going through it. Hot flashes are the most noticeable for me. Mood swings are up there too. I'm finally not having periods regularly.

  • I think people go through it at differant ages.Things like certain medical conditions can cause it to come on early.

  • I lead a very busy life, never gave it much thought although the sweats were really getting to me. I was responding to life in so many ways either way up there or same situation could floor me. After I had had enough I saw my PCP, yes folks this is the start of the change and I would guess 30-40 although unfortunately some people start earlier. The standard clues don't work for all because when you stay busy it is not too clear. Once the subject was discussed with doc and then kids, I asked them if they had noticed any change in my disposition, stating: do you notice any peaks or valleys from me? The answer from the kids point of view were: "ma, those were mountains and caverns"

  • My mom is in her early 50's, and she started noticing the change about a year or so ago? She said she's really not been bothered by it either, and its been going pretty smooth for her.
