  • some kids are picky eaters. Give me an idea of what he likes to eat and maybe I can help you find a way to sneak in the veggies, protein and fruit.

  • maybe just give him certain healthy food options and let him pick which ones he wants it might help if he thinks its his choice. also i went thru this with my dd for a while and they said to just leave the food their and give her the option to come back and eat it but dont offer anything different b/c that will create bad habits and as long as he is eating enough to sustain him than that is ok. if it's a weight issue ic could be that his metabilism is reletviely slower than normal too and not digestong what he does eat fast enough i hope that makes sense. i think as long as he is not over/under weight i wouldn't stress too much he will come around and just keeep consistant with whatever you decide to do and i'll tell you i am not bashing doctors but a mommy really knows best and of you find something that works and it is not harming him go with it!! i hope this helps!!

  • Switch to green tea, it's a natural diuretic (sp?). Use a touch of honey instead of artifical sweetener (too many processed goods are not good for small children). Water down the juice to cut calories. Go for a family walk every day. He just might not be getting enough continuous activity during regular play to up his metabolism. If the excessive weight gain continues for no obvious reason, seek a 2nd medical opinion.

  • STOP gving him Splenda. Artifical sweetners are HORRIBLE for the body. He could be gaining weight because you are taking away too much nutrients and his body is storing what he is getting to help support his body. Also, your son may just be a bigger kid. As long as he is healthy don't worry so much about his weight. Give him a variety of healthy foods and make sure he is eating normal portions. I don't believe in watering down juice to cut calories because it also cuts down on the nutrients in the juice. Stick with natural juices without artifical sweetners. If he is really active have the doctor check his thyroid to make sure he doesn't have a medical reason he is gaining weight. Keep encouraging him to be active for 30-60 minutes EVERYDAY!! He is also 3 and will fluctuate in his weight until he is an adult.
