U.A. came back with large amounts of white blood cells, any ideas why?

My doctor said she will let me know when I go in tomorrow. I went to the ER with severe pain, they gave me an antibiotics shot and Doxycycline. Then I followed up with my doc and left a urine sample complaining that it hurt to pee.

The next day they called and said I have too many white blood cells for as many antibiotics as im on. She told me to stop the doxy and start Cipro 800mg.

What would survive Doxycycline, and antibiotics shot?

  • White blood cells fight infection. You have a major one.

  • A major infection, that's for sure. Make sure you get in, you could be forming stones, and/or a bladder infection is getting to your kidneys.

  • Bladder infection. I went through that last summer. It was NOT fun.

  • different types of infections responf better to certain types of antibiotics. They probably did a culture and realized Cipro was better for your particular type of "bug"
