What are your kids having for lunch today?

i have the hardest time getting lunch ideas for my kids. i try new things all the time but just end up wasting my money. i want them to eat healthier but they freak if i even change their sandwich bread. they basically live off frozen tyson chicken nuggets, corn dogs, tomato soup and cheese sandwiches, pb sandwiches, eggs and yogurt. . . cuz i know they will eat it. but i really want them to try new things . im so used to what they eat now that i cant even be creative .... lol. they are so weird cuz they refuse mac and cheese but drink v8 hahaha.

any help or ideas. . even just tell me what you r kids are having today. thanx. i guess i should mention they are 2 and 6. they will eat carrotts broccoli and salad too.

  • My oldest is having hot lunch at school-- not sure what food combo he will pick today. My 2nd is going on a field trip and taking a sack lunch with baby carrots, applesauce, a capri sun and a nachos lunchable thing. ( I added the carrots and applesauce to make it a bit 'healthier'). The little one will probably have his usual-- a ham sandwich, cottage cheese or yogurt and milk.

  • Sounds like I'm reading about myself! My son will eat chicken nuggets, fish sticks, applesauce, yogurt, pancakes, cheese and sandwiches. It drives me nuts. I have gotten so many children's cookbooks with ways to sneak veggies and things in... he could care less.
One thing that seems to work well is testing with sandwiches. It is time consuming and tedious, but I make teeny tiny sandwiches (maybe one inch x one inch) and then out of one piece of bread he can have eight sandwiches. I generally use nutella, peanut butter, cheese, ham & cheese, shredded cheese... anything I think he might eat, and then a couple new things. Since it's just one bite per sandwich he will sometimes try them. My sister sent me a list of other sandwich options:
    cream cheese and jam
    mashed banana and maple syrup
    grated carrot and cream cheese
    shredded cheese and mashed avocado
    refried beans and mashed avocado
Maybe this helps?Children can be so stubborn!

  • All my 10 yr old will eat is pb&j with cottage cheese..all summer vacation this is what he lives on...its not a bad health choice so i don't complain middle son was on a black olive and pepperoni kick for a long time and again..not a bad health choice, the doctor told me as long as they are eating and its not just cookies and let them have what they want.
