Urine testing at doctors office...

im 13w5d...anyone know what the strips test for at the doctor office when you leave the urine sample and they go in there dip the strip in it??? today they did mine, and i heard the assistant tell someone else that something came back white..and then she came in my room and asked me if i have been feeling ok...ive been fine for about 2 weeks now..i had really bad morning/all day sickness, but its completely gone now...just wondering if anyone may know what they meant by that..i should have asked, but i was focused on speaking to the nurse about something so i didnt forget about it..

also, when the nurse came in to evaluate me, she didnt mention anything about it..she said everything was just curious, i was thinking about it on my way home.

  • the urine test they do in the doctors office with the strip is to check the ph balance and keytones in your urine, if you are spilling keytones into your urine then there is a possible chance that you might have gestational diabetes which normally controlled by diet and monitored by the physician, and if there is any concerns of anything else they will send sample to a labatory

  • They test for quite a few things. UTI, drugs, and diabetes being the most common. They may have been discussing another patient at the time.

  • I agree if the nurse didn't tell you something was wrong, then do not worry if they were worried they would have told you things to look for or had you do more testing. Relax.

  • OK the Ua tests sugar, protein, ketone, bilirubin, urobilinogen, blood, nitrate, pH, leukocytes, and specific gravity. if a suffiecient amount of a substance is present in the urine the strip changes color. If there is no reaction (no color change) the results are recorded as negative. So white would be ok. White or cloudy urine would indicate an infection of some sort so it would depend on what was white. If they had anything they were concerned about your doctor would have said something.
