Obama says tax cut offsets the higher gas prices...

Do you agree?

This was on The Hill and was taken from an interview he gave to ABC World News. It's from their blog, but has direct quotes of his interview.

But he said the deal struck with Republicans in December for a two-year extension of Bush-era tax rates is offsetting the costs for drivers.

“Now, one good thing that we did was in December, an example of compromise that a lot of people didn’t think was going to be possible, with Republicans — we were able to pass a package of tax cuts that has helped to buffer some of that strain on families. So the total amount of tax cuts that we passed to boost the economy this year will probably be higher than the additional gas costs,” Obama said.

  • I think those people who keep pushing for mandatory drug testing of people who live on tax money need to redirect their sample cups to a different budget line item...

If you know how to balance a home budget this would make sense to you. If you give money some where in part of the budget, you take away in nother part unlessyou have excess money, which the US doesn't/

So when Obama gave all of the making work pay credits, small business credits. etc, you should expect to see it come back later, hence you will pay it back some way or another, one way being gas

The reason why gas may be going up now is because, if some of you have noticed, jobs are more avaiable, people can now afford to pay more, where as last year maybe paying a dollar more in gas meant no food for the family , this year, even here in California, real estate is selling, jobs are picking up etc, best time to raise pricesto resist a depression. It had to happen sooner or later to balance the budget

  • Wait a minute. He didn't pass any tax cuts. Nobody's taxes went down at all because of anything he did there. He extended what was already in place. Things would have gone up. There were no tax cuts in Dec. So these non-existent tax cuts cannot be higher than the gas price increases. It's just not mathematically possible.

This is yet another time he's LYING to us. Either that, or he really believes he is the next best thing since sliced bread.

  • No, I don't agree and if it wasn't so serious I'd actually laugh at how ridiculous he sounds trying to pass this off as something good.

  • That's laughable at best. My kids could probably come up with a more plausible reason.
