Anyone have a good made from scratch sugar cookie recipe?

Looking for a easy but tasty recipe. I'm also looking for the recipe for the frosting that you decorate sugar cookies with that goes hard. I know it has lard in it but I can't find an actual recipe. Anyone able to help?

  • 1 1/2 Cups butter, softened
    2 Cups sugar
    5 Cups all purpose flour
    1 tsp salt
    4 eggs
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    2 tsp baking powder

In large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth.
    Beat in eggs and vanilla.
Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Cover and chill dough at least 1 hour (or overnight)
    Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.
Cut into shapes with cookie cutter.
Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 6 to 8 minutes in preheated oven.
    Cool completely.
