  • The OP is referring to what happen at a PUBLIC school in the Seattle, WA area. A volunteer High School student was working at the school as part of her private school mission project. At the end of the week she wanted to give the kids easter eggs with candy in them. She was given approval to do so only if she called them Spring Spheres. So she was not allow to use the word Easter OR eggs when passing out the candy filled "spring spheres". ---I mean Easter eggs.

  • Are they really off for good Friday?

It's regional. Some schools recognize it, some schedule their spring break so it automatically includes that week, some don't even make it a day off.

  • Schools r closed because it is a religious holiday.

  • Are they really off for good Friday? Or is it for school improvement and it just happens to fall on good Friday? See here there is no school the 21 or 22. Both are labeled School Improvement days-No students in attendance. So they aren't "really" getting off for Easter, but anyone with 1/2 a brain knows exactly why those school improvement days were scheduled the Thursday and Friday before Easter.

  • I live in the south - aka the bible belt - we always have our spring break scheduled so either the first or second weekend of the break is Easter weekend. And you KNOW it is done for that reason and that reason alone.

  • I'm in Ontario, and we do have Good Friday off school. We have Easter Monday off as well. Good Friday is a statutory holiday in Ontario. And we do call Easter eggs Easter eggs. However, they don't deal with the religious aspects of the holiday in public schools. It's just colouring eggs and the Easter bunny.
