Does anyone homeschool?? I want to start homeschooling my kids and need a curriculum?

My kids have been in public school, but God has called us into a camping ministry that we are pursuing. A part of this calling, is to start homeschooling the children who are currently in 4th grade, 7th grade and 9th grade.. I need any advice on how to start, I am so overwhelmed! I would like to look into a Christian curriculum is possible. Thanks!!!

  • You will think I am kidding you, local school district will have lots of resouces for you...maybe even a local homeschooling resource school. Sounds strange but true.

  • I LOVE Bob Jones Curriculum.

A lot of my friends use a curriculum called Paces. A Becca (sp?) is another.

  • I also recommend getting a membership with Homeschool Legal Defense Association. this site will help with state information and requirements,

  • Go up to the "Groups" tab and I think there's a search feature...just search for Homeschooling. Happy Homeschooling is the biggest I believe. Then once you click the title or whatever (or even right there) you should see a "Join Group" button or something like that.

BTW, Abeka is a Christian curriculum a lot of people use.

Oh..I just now see that Soniam mentioned it, but her spelling is off.

  • This is my 3rd year homeschooling. We use My Father's World .  You'll need to know your state's homeschooling laws before you begin...feel free to message me if you want some links.

Simply put, religious homeschooling is abuse. Period. Have fun abusing your children. I wish it were fucking illegal.

  • Happy Homeschoolers is a good group and has great lists to choose from.

I know many Christians who use Abeka or Sonlight curriculum.

I homeschool but am not Christian nor do I use a specific curriculum but I wish you luck!

  • No one has mentioned ACE. That is the program my kids use at their school (private Christian school), with some Abeka in K.
