Swim suits

We live pretty close to a water park and I am appalled at the swim suits I see on some of these kids. Little girls wearing string bikini's and teenagers walking around showing way more than they should. I am so picky about what my daughter wears. When we go to a water park she wears a surf shirt and boy shorts.

What are your views on swimsuits in public?

  • I think it's amazing what people are comfortable wearing too. My 9 yo wears one piece swimsuits and will until she's old enough to understand the type of attention that showing too much can bring - usually from undesirable people. At a water park, I always wear a one piece or a very full coverage two piece because it just makes sense.

  • My daughter wears a one piece...she will be 5 next month. I know what you're talking about...we live near a water park as well and I cringe sometimes with how parents allow their kids to dress.

  • My kids are appalled too. It's getting harder and harder to find age appropriate swim wear and my daughter is turning 5 next month.

I worry when she is 15 they wont even MAKE one pieces. We're a bikini free household, period.

  • My daughters (ages 7 and 9) are allowed to wear bathing suits or bikinis that have boy shorts as long as they are pretty modest. String bikinis or anything even remotely "sexy" would be a big no-no!

  • My daughter is 3 and has always worn a bikini, I don't see the problem.when I was younger (under 5) there are pictures of me running around w/my brothers in swimming trunks, b/c I wanted to be like them. I wasn't developed so it wasn't an issue.

  • one piece or tankinis only. NO belly showing! Even my son wears a swim shirt still. (He is 6) I am not comfortable with the kind of attention that con come from showing to much skin. IMPO We want to teach out children to respect their bodies, to be weary of strangers and to keep their bodies private then send a mixed message when we allow them to run around in what equates to panties and a bra. .
