Mother has genital herpes. Is my daughter in danger? adult content

We live with my mother and she insists on sharing spoons and feeding her off of plates to the point to where i make our mealtimes seperate so she wont. I was wondering, is my daughter in danger of getting genital herpes is she shares a spoon or uses the same tub etc? Im pretty sure its only by sexual contact BUT im not certain. I will be asking her doc on monday but i would like opinions. Thanks!

  • I had a friend with genital herpes, and we often shared drinks- I am herpes free! She kept clorox wipes in the bathroom for guests to wipe the toilet seat, and guest towels and bed linens. Do not share towels, wash cloths, or bar soap. Get some clorox wipes to wipe down the toilet seat before you or your daughter uses it- try to get your daughter to shower (if she's old enough) if that's not possible bleaching the tub is probably the best option. Especially since she isn't on suppression medication, which means she could be having an active outbreak at any time. Err on the side of caution- if your mother's genitals touch it- bleach it before yours and your daughter's do.

  • ewww. whether it is contagious or not/ there would be no sharing of food with grams. can't be too careful. you should have a serious talk with your mom;; if she loves her grand kid she will understand. if she gets offended she is just a jerk.

  • Consult your Doctor about this ...I see you will be seeing the Doctor. WE can't give an educated opinion on this.

  • You cannot get genital herpes from sharing a spoon or some food. The tub I'm not too sure about. I would clean the tub just in case lol! When you have genital herpes it doesnt mean you have it on your mouth, and vise versa, unless you have both.

  • She won't have a constant outbreak. Most likely she's on suppression meds
