  • caused by the varicella zoster virus ..... Varicella zoster virus (VZV) is one of eight herpes viruses known to infect humans (and other vertebrates). It commonly causes chicken-pox in children and Herpes zoster (shingles) in adults and rarely in children.

  • it is not the same herpes as on your lips or groin after having varicella the disease remains dormant forever as herpes zoster in your system... the zoster can later cause shingles a person who never has had chicken pox can get chicken pox from an active shingles person there are 8 DIFFERENT types of herpes (maybe more)
