What can I do with Chickpeas?

I love them for a number of diffrent things but I want to do something diffrent with them.

Any Ideas???

  • Roast them & sprinkle seat salt & garlic powder on them!! Yummy :0)

  • Sometimes I make hummus. But, our fave is chick pea salad:
    2 (15-ounce) cans chickpeas, rinsed and drained & left whole
    1 small red onion finely chopped
    1 small red bell pepper, finely chopped
    A few ribs celery and leafy tops, chopped
    1 clove garlic, minced or grated then grinded into a paste with salt
    1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
    2 tablespoons rosemary, finely chopped, a few sprigs
    2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
    3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
    Salt and freshly ground black pepper
    Combine chick peas with onions, peppers, celery, garlic, red pepper flakes and rosemary in a medium bowl. Dress salad with vinegar and oil, salt and pepper. Serve chilled.

  • i also use them in a salad. take 1 can black beans( rinse them), 1 can kidneys( rinse), 1 can chick peas, 1 small container feta cheese, 1 shallot ( diced), 1 half pepper diced mix with balsamic vinegrette and let marinade! Its soo good!

  • Toss them into a salad, hummis, make a chicken veggie & bean dinner (I just mix such things togther for our meals! esp when we have leftover things)... chickpeas have such a mild yummy taste that they honestly easily go with lots of things! How about some type of salsa/dip with chips? Bet you could find something yummy to do with them like that!!!!

  • Yep, definitely need tahini for the hummus. LOL. And, it's expensive, too! OMG! The salad is one of the things that is a consistent request when going to picnics, potlucks, parties, etc. I like to make it the night before & let it sit in the fridge so all the flavors "marry". YUMMY!!

  • I use them in Macoroni with cheese.
    You cook the can of chick peas with a bit of olive oil and some diced onion.
    Then you mix it with the cooked elbow pasta and add some green peas and diced cooked carrots. . Then you serve it with some romano cheese shaved over it.

  • Hummus is amazing ! You could also try doing the chick peas in rice....its a hispanic recipe... I am sure you can find it online somewhere.
