Gerber Life Insurance

When my youngest daughter was born, we decided to enroll both girls into the Gerber Life Insurance policy program. The baby was enrolled with no problem, but they are making us jump through hoops for our 7 year old. She has ADHD and takes one pill a day for it. She does well in school, etc. They are making us file medical records with them etc. before enrolling her. Does anyone else think this is a bit much?

  • Baloney like that is why we didn't do Gerber - it's not worth it IMO. We went a different route that costs us nothing.

  • You really want life insurance for your child? Ifyou're getting it for the savings aspect, you can do so much better in terms of saving. Remember-- you only get back what you put in. That means THEY get the interest.

If you really think your child is going to die before they turn 21, you'd still do better to just put aside money for potential funeral costs.

You should also just look into term insurance-- cheaper, and you can put the difference into a savings plan for your child. You get coverage, and they benefit from the savings, too!
