What time does your child/do your children go to sleep and wake up?

What would be a good time for my 5 month old baby girl to go to bed at night and wake up in the morning? I get up for work at 6, so I'd like her to wake up at 7am. I try to be in bed by 10pm, but I'd like to have quiet time with my husband and by myself. So is 9pm too late for a 5 month old baby to go to bed? Is 8 too early?  She went to bed at 8:30 last night and woke up at 7 this morning.  I was thrilled!  I just discovered that she's been fighting sleep and taking over an hour to stay asleep because she prefers being on her tummy instead of on her back.  Now it just takes abotu 15 minutes to feed her and put her down.  She woke up once in the night after sleeping for  hours, and I fed her and put her back down.  Then she slept the rest of the night.

  • Mine goes to bed at 8. She just turned 1 on the 6th. That has been her bed time for at least 6 months now.

  • How many hours does your child usually sleep? Put her to bed at 9pm on your next couple of days off and let her wake up naturally, then adjust her bedtime accordingly.

  • For her age, she should be getting 14-15 hours of sleep per day. This includes naps. So 8-7 is 11 hours. Plus you have to factor in how long she naps for. Try 8 and if that doesn't work adjust it by 30 minutes. Maybe 8:30 would work better for your and her schedule.

  • At 5 months, the best I can remember, my son went to bed about 9:30 and got up at between 7 and 8. By a year, his bedtime was 7:30 and got up at the same time. At 3 years, he goes to bed about 8 and gets up normally around 7:30.

  • my 4 and half month old usually goes to sleep around 8:30 to 9 and wakes up 6 or 7. He wakes up at night, but able to suck on his fingers and goes back to sleep.

  • It sounds to me like you had a pretty good night last night so I would stick with that schedule and see how it goes. Then you can adjust it accordingly if you feel she is waking a little early or not ready to get up at 7, you can push things back or forward as needed.
