Do you generally have a lot of braxton hicks leading up to the real ones?

Do you notice a lot of frequent, strong, but irregular contractions before you start real ones?

  • I am 30 weeks and I have been getting them frequently. Sometimes they just feel like my belly is blowing up like a balloon and stretching and just more uncomfortable than painful. But the last few times they have hurt really bad. I usually get the painful ones when I go for a walk, I just breath/walk through them. They arent on a scheduled pattern or anything, thats why im not worried about them, but they do come on and off all througout the day.

  • I had braxton hicks starting from 22 weeks on. The doctor even had me stay at home at 32 weeks because I kept haveing false labor at work by myself.

  • I had braxton hicks contractions from about 20 weeks on-going. They never really changed. After my water broke my contractions were more frequent, but not more painful. I had to be given pitocen after 12 hours an no progress. Ouch. :)

  • I felt Braxton Hicks all the time with my first, but no labor by my scheduled C-section at 39 weeks.

With my second, I never felt a single contraction until active labor.

    Either way is "normal".
