Need vacation ideas for East Coast during the summer?

What are some places to visit in Pennsylvania, Washington DC, New York or any state/city nearby? I need things for preschoolers and teenagers. It will be our first family vacation as a blended family and trying to make it fun for everyone.

  • Wow, any one of those is a trip in itself.

Here are some of the things we enjoy:

Pennsylvania - Theme parks: Knoebels, Hershey Park, Dorney Park; Off-the-wall attractions: Crayola Factory, Sesame Place, Roadside America (enormous miniature train/village/museum); Cultural Attractions: Liberty Bell & Independence Hall in Philly, Amish countryside in Lancaster area (great restaurants around there, too - yum!)

Washington DC - National Zoo, more Smithsonians than you can shake a stick at (kids like Air and Space best, usually), National Gallery, walking tour of mall area, International Spy museum!

New York (state or city??) - Niagara Falls (take your passports to go to Canada side), in the city Circle Line boat, Ferris Wheel at Toys R Us, Central Park Zoo, lots of great shows
