First words??

okay, i know that she too little to REALLY talk - but this is too cute.
My baby girl is 3 months old now, and loves everyone talking to her. she has been cooing and gooing and such for several weeks, and tries to make the same sounds we make. I always tell her " I love You" several several times a day.. as do her 3 siblings. About a week ago.. she immitated my oldest son.. and cooed out.. Love You, and now every time we talk to her thats what she '"says". So even though these aren't her real first words - when should I expect to hear those most precious first words for REAL?

  • My daughter also started imitating us verbally at about 3 1/2 months, but hers was "kiss"....Her first real word (the one she can repeat frequently, plainly and on command) was Dada at 6 months.....She's now just shy of 8 mo and says Dada, Hi, Baba, Nana, No and most importantly Mama!

  • LOL, my three month old has said horse, cow, uh-oh, captain, and a few others...totally just sounds coincidentally strung together, but funny anyway!

When they start talking varies a lot, just like everything else they do. As PP said, her daughter said her first word at six months, but some are over a year!

  • When our third child was born in July via c-section, the nurse held him by my head to see him and i swear he said "hi". Plain as day! Laughed so hard they couldn't stitch me up for ten minutes!
