  • I never have had much luck with run of the mill shampoo and conditioners. That never really kept me from buying them and trying them out. Most of them dry my scalp out something fierce. Redken brand is usually a safe bet for me as well as the phyto plant series.

  • I use Tressame or Frutise. They are both arond 2 or 3 dollars a bottle. I can't use the other stuff. They dry out my hair or give me a rash.

  • Most of the grocery store shampoos & conditioners I've used are too drying for my hair. I've started buying them at the salon, Sally's Beauty Supply or Drug Emporium. Yes, they are more expensive but, they do a lot better on my hair. I also try to only use "sulfate free" shampoo. It's made a world of difference.

  • Truth is, most shampoos have the same essential detergents; everything else (fragrance, packaging, advertising) is what drives the price up ... that's why they say buy the cheapest you can find. I personally use only natural shampoos made without petrochemicals, parabens, SLS, phthalates, etc. so it does cost a little more but so worth it to not have those chemicals irritating my skin and scalp.

  • Anon, most salon shampoos are PH balanced, while drugstore shampoo is not, if you have any kind of chemical on your hair, salon shampoo is the best,, I agree with Wendy, Redken or Pureology!
