Any ideals to help with getting him to practice..

my son wont sit down long enough to practice his abc and stuff to get ready for school in aug . what would be a fun game to get him to try more.? we have different things we try to do he just seem to get bored easily with it. any ideals?

  • Read to him. Point out things in stores and while driving. Making him "sit and learn". Isn't always a good thing. He should learn through everyday actions. Label everything you see, meaning look at the rectangle red sign, it has a big "A" on it.

  • Find out from the school what they expect him to know when he gets there. It may be less than you think. There are activity books with puzzles,etc in them that are fun and he would be learning as well as having fun. I have seen them everywhere....Toys R Us, Target, Walmart, drugstores, sometimes the grocery store.

  • read to him give him flash cards to work with and if you have the funds we bought my son and Alphie and he loves it and is learning his ABC's; 123's; colors and shapes. Give him some activity books to work out of; make a game of it and he will enjoy learning more; cut out shapes or pictures from a magazine and make puzzles
