Do I have to clip my nails short to work with children?

I'll be working as a assistant for a teacher who works with small children with disabilities. I keep my nails long all the time. Should a clip them for my first day working with the students.

  • I can honestly say that as a child I was scared to death of women with long nails lol:) My mom took me to a salon to get my hair cut when I was 4 or 5 and the hairdresser had inch long nails. I started screaming and we had to leave. But for your own safety ( catching nails on stuff, breaking them ) I would suggest cutting them shortER, not all the way down. P.S. I did get over my fear, btw :)

  • I would if I were you. Too many chances for them to break or snag.

  • I would for the first day at least, until you know what you're dealing with. They grow back reasonably quick (for me at least) so if it ends up being ok, then let them grow.
