Is it just me or is Calomine lotion overrated as being said to use for itchiness?

My son has poison Ivy ...ugh...good sign spring is here, lol.
Anyway...calomine has NEVER seemed to really work for the itchiness! It has a cooling effect when its first put on but then it dries..and it still itches like crazy.
So what is really the point of using it? I think benydryl or hydrocortizone works better.

  • We are currently using that as well. I've seen post here some time back where some other product works much better but I can't find the post. Wish I could because I'd go buy it this afternoon.

  • CALAMINE lotion actually works wonders. Maybe it's because of the poision ivy and he needs something stronger?
