Have you ever SUCCESSFULLY grown an Avocado plant from a seed?

So I've decided to see if I can do it, but I've never known anyone who's actually been successful with it.

If you have, any details on how you did would be great. And if you haven't, any general plant tips would help. I seem to have a black thumb, but I'd really like to change that! I love plants and whatnot.

  • We are in the process of growing it now. I live in Indiana, so we obviously have it potted. I don't know what we're going to do when and IF it actually grows because it won't survive the elements here. Eh...oh well. Good luck though!! I hope you find the answers you're looking for!!

  • We tried in my office. It sat there forever and finally got moldy so we tossed it.

  • Unhelpful answer, but I tried 3 times and eventually got so frustrated I gave up!

  • I did it once, but it was a good 15 years ago, and I don't remember anymore what my method was. It was an absolutely gorgeous plant though. Very hearty, and it got really big.
