Build A Bear

What is it? What should I expect and what is the average cost?

My daughter, 4, saw a commercial for it the other day and of course now wants to go.

  • Build a Bear is a toy store that has a variety of stuffed animals, unstuffed. You pick which animal (they range from base price about $10 to over $20), the helper helps you stuff the animal with a big machine, you put in a heart with a little routine (rub the heart on your face, so your bear will be pretty, etc.). You pick out outfits (ranging from $5 tshirts up to $30 specialty outfits) and accessories. You make a birth certificate for your friend and a "condo" box to bring him/her home.

We love BAB. We have a family mascot with four hearts in it that we take on vacations and make little tshirts for. We made one for our exchange student before she got here last year; she in turn made three more to take home with her for friends in Germany. My 6 yr old and 3 yr old girls love their various friends.

Expect to spend about $25. You CAN get out for under $15, for a basic pet w/ little or no clothes, or you CAN spend much more.
