Can i cut off a third of a potato and wrap the rest in plastic wrap and save it or will it dry up after i cut it?

i don't want to use the whole thing, just a third of it. i also know though that potatoes contain a lot of water and i don't want to waste the rest of it.

  • Once you expose the starches, the potato will usually turn brown. Doesn't hurt to try though!

  • It is going to oxidize and turn brown.

  • leave it in a small bowl with some water to cover it then it shouldn't turn brown

  • Put it in water for use later, that will save it from turning brown. Just make sure you use it within a day or two.

  • Put it in cold water in the fridge and it will be fine for a day or 2.
