My 5 year old won't stop saying sh*t! What do I do?

  • Ignore it, the more you discourage it the more the child will be inclined to repeat. Try to watch your mouth next time.

  • All adults around him/her have to make the effort to stop saying it too. Then ignore it.

  • I used soap. Just a dab will do you...I warned before hand. He got the picture after one time.

  • We don't use foul language in our home. Bad words here are "stupid", "shut up", "dummy"...the worst thing he's heard is hell and that is rare. I've tried soap and word replacment with no luck. We'll try ignoring it and see what happens. Thanks.

  • Mine said What the hell... hmm there was no question where he got that from. I'm still trying to correct him when he slips up once in a while.
