Need to Relax a Muscle...

I had one of those cramps in my calf this morning that had me in the fetal position crying out in pain. It was HORRIBLE. Anyway, what is the best way to get that muscle to RELAX? It's been over 15 hours and it's still very tight.

Fearing a relapse in the screaming fetal position tomorrow morning...

  • Massage it, and eat some bananas for the potassium so you dont cramp up again. You can also try a heating pad. Take some tylenol as well.

  • Walk on it. I always walk immediately when I get one of those and it eases the pain.

  • The quickest way to make the pain go away is to flex your toes towards your head. Keep yourself hydrated and make sure you get enough potassium. Try having a nice hot bath or shower to get it to loosen up.

  • Magnesium; magnesium relaxes muscles. You could try an epsom salt bath too (epsom salts are magnesium sulfate).
