How weird is this???

My chihuahua scratched the holy crap out of me and the skin where he scratched welted up...when he seen it he started trying to lick at it...and even now (the next day) I have to keep him away from my arm or he'll start trying to lick at the welt again....why is he doing that??? Does he know he hurt me and is trying to make it better or something? LOL

  • Dogs lick their own wounds to help them heal faster ( a dog's saliva contains an enzyme to help them heal faster) & when they smell a wound on their person, they will try to lick it, too. You shouldn't allow your dog to lick your wounds, though, because it could become infected by the bacteria in the dog's mouth.
