  • I don't think there is a way unfortunately. Maybe someone who's receiving benefits has a suggestion. I have a thought, but until I'm in their shoes I can't say.

  • Okay I think that has been debated enough today. lol. Any other good ways that don't have a *potential*(not saying it would or wouldn't but I think we can agree there is potential) to backfire with additional cost?

  • Ok well drug test was my thought, but it's probably a violation of privacy considering they are not criminals. I don't think those who are using the system correctly would agree with drug testing.

  • Lets say food stamps and Section 8. Lying about income, house hold size (IE room mates live in boy friend) or marriage status Elimination would hurt those who are really working and trying to survive.

  • The only way to verify and keep out those who are trying to lie to get what they don't deserve is to research. It's going to cost but at I doubt it will cost nearly as much to employ people to check out applicants as it does to give money to those who don't need it. It's a win win. People are employed and fraud is cut.

  • Single parents who LIVE WITH a bf/gf shouldn't get food stamps I know too many couples who won't get married because then they would loose foodstamps. Married families should have less restrictions because there are families who do need them and can't get them because of that married status. Also it irritates me when I see my sister's bil, who is 40 and single without kids getting foodstamps yet my household does not qualify for a very stupid reason.
Loosen the rules for low income housing. I know 3 people taking up low income townhouses that have no kids living with them. If you kids do not live there then get out because there are homeless families, people with kids who need a place to live and a single person can live more easy then an entire family.
I have no idea what to do about those who get cash asst. except maybe make it where the cash card only works in the state it is issued.

  • I think they are already doing what they can do. You cant assume someone is lying because they need aid, there has to be some evidence of fraud. I guess they could run criminal records checks to see if someone has a history of fraud.
