  • One of the nicest showers I ever went to was appetizers only and then sweets & cake after gifts. There was a table of a few apps for guests as they arrived. Then as gifts were being opened others, hot and cold, were passed every so often. Then there was cake and sweets later on. If you do this make sure the guest of honor gets some as they are passed too!

  • Depends on the time of day

For Brunch; I like to do quiche, fresh fruit, muffins, veggie platter......and of course cake

For lunch; finger sandwiches or a sandwich cake, deviled eggs, fresh fruit, veggie platter, spinach artichoke dip, maybe hummus, babaganoush and pita chips,

late afternoon or evening; finger foods such as baby burritos, sausage balls, spinach artichoke dip, hummus, babaganoush, fruit platter, veggie platter

Cake, cupcakes or cookies with each

  • We had a co-ed shower, so we didn't want the typical "tea" type foods. Instead, we did a "what I craved when pregnant" shower. We asked the moms that were coming some of their pregnancy cravings, then made the menu off that. Then, it was a game to guess or remember who craved what food. We had dill pickle potato chips, beer weanies, rotel dip, pickles of all assortments, caramel popcorn, etc. It was kind of a gross combination, but it was tons of fun. And no one seemed to care that the food didn't all "go" together.

  • Buy cakepops, and use the color of blue for boy, or pink for a girl. Finger sandwiches, potato salad, if its warm out, just throw some hotdogs and burgers on the grill.
