Would you let your kid skip school for this?

I let my 11yo skip school today to go camping/fishing with DH and will probably be the last time he gets to see grampa this year maybe longer.he is also missing his baseball game tonight and practice tomorrow.this is the only time I've ever let him skip.

  • I would even tell the school the real reason he was out. I'm sure they would be fine with it.

  • Yes!! It would be different if he saw his Grandpa every day.

  • I don't see anything wrong with that. My Mom and Dad both worked 2 jobs when we were kids and sometimes my Mom would let me and my sister stay home from school and we would all go out to lunch or shopping. As long as it isn't all the time, there is no harm in it.

  • If he hasn't missed too much school thus far, and is doing well, then sure!

  • I think this is OK so long as there hasn't been other days where he played hooky. DD has missed so many days that she needs a doctor's note if she misses any more school this year.  (My neighbors scheduled a trip to Florida where their kids missed 3 days of school.)

  • Yes, when we have family get togethers I let my 8 year old and 7 year old miss out on school. That is once a year in August. As long as it has something to do with family of course.
