What do you feel government is responsible for providing to the people it serves?

Any and all ideas are welcome. I think this is where many of us part ways when it comes to government's job. Some of us expect more while some of us expect limited return.

  • They need to provide our constitutional rights. I also think they should provide limited help when someone becomes down on their luck, but this 2 years of unemployment is bull.

  • I guess I should have clarified, our FEDERAL government. Of course your city and state have other infrastructure that they build / create and maintain, but I am really more interested in what people expect from the federal government. I think they have their hands in too many pies right now and some people don't think they have enough hands in it. I think that's where our fundamental difference of opinion is based. JMO.

  • Carpy pretty much covered it ~ There will always be a need for social services, no matter what. A society cannot turn a blind eye to those incapable of caring for themselves.
