  • Alcohol.

My brother worked in a garage and walking through the basement to his bedroom in his work boots every day for about 4 years. The entry way of his room's (blue) carpet was black with oil, grease and ground in dirt. Then, one of his friends dropped a bottle of Bailey's onto the concrete floor just in the entryway, smashing it to bits and spraying all over the carpet.

The next day, everywhere it touched you could see clean blue carpet --it just made the dirt and grease go away...

Since then, we've used the cheapest vodka available in a spray bottle on any kind of stain on anything hard to wash. It takes the stink out of sports gear, too... Theatres use it on non-washable costumes.

  • Folex Carpet cleaner. That stuff seems to get out anything from vomit, to pet stains to a child spitting out liquid medication on the floor.
