How do you make perfect hard boil eggs?

How long do I boil? How many at a time can I use? When do I know when they're done?

  • Don't use super fresh ones. Use the ones that have been in the fridge for several days. As the egg starts to break down it created some air so the egg doesn't stick to the sell.

  • Make sure you add some salt when you first put them in the water- it makes them much easier to peel.

  • I always boil them, adding water as it steams off the top. When one of them starts to crack, I am sure they are done. I rinse them with cold water from the faucet and let them sit awhile in a cold water bath. This makes peeling them easier and cleaner.

  • Some good suggestions here. Love boiled eggs. I think the 15 minute max suggestion is about right.

Minutes. The shell just peels off.

  • I wait until the water is boiled, put the eggs in,17 minutes, then immediately run under cold water. Easy to peel, and are always yellow with no green ring.
